Job Description and Duties
We’re looking for someone who has experience in Linux/OpenShift Container administration and is interested in learning and growing in a positive and supportive work environment. Working with your new team, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of innovative problem-solving activities to provide server deployments and engineering support to the organization. Your work directly impacts the success of the Franchise Tax Board’s (FTB) mission and helps Californians meet their tax obligations, which in turn funds the majority of programs that support all Californians.
- You install and maintain the Linux Servers, OCP Clusters, OS Administrations and Operational Support
- You provide Linux server/container maintenance for upgrades, customer enhancements, law changes, and security patching
- You provide support for network systems and server hardware and software support activities, including server configurations, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting, assigning workload with the team, as well as being a resource for technology projects
- You tune for performance and troubleshoot Linux systems
- You provide support for the planning, acquisition, and research and evaluation of new technologies for use within the current and/or future operational programs
- You provide services which encompass the IT domain of System Engineering
- You may also have an opportunity to act as a project lead and participate in a variety of projects
- You collaborate with staff of all levels and technical abilities from within the FTB’s technology organization, along with business customers to provide technical guidance and project support with a focus on excellent customer service
- You play a key role in the success of the team, in meeting project goals, and ensuring 24 x 7 uptime
- You have a strong drive for problem solving and are detail oriented

- You are flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities
- You are able to adjust work schedule to meet operational needs, which occasionally includes off-hours and on call support
