Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with precious experience in a complex environment, with exposure to various technologies in the Information Technology Branch? The Employment Development Department (EDD) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the Infrastructure Security Engineering Group (ISEG). The incumbent is responsible for the engineering, implementation, maintenance, and operations of the organization’s statewide Enterprise Infrastructure security systems.
The Information Technology Specialist II is responsible for designing modern security infrastructure architecture in cloud computing with virtual servers and serves as a lead technical specialist in support of the organization’s enterprise information security engineering and operations, including all associated hardware/software components and the confidential and sensitive data used at EDD.
The Information Technology Specialist II performs a wide range of high-level technical tasks requiring innovative problem-solving and undertakes a variety of roles, from subject matter experts in security strategy, as lead specialist in security oversight activities for ongoing projects. The incumbent mentors, trains and supports section staff to ensure adherence to EDD’s security standards and methods, and to make certain that projects are completed in a timely manner.
The incumbent acts as an Architect engineer on infrastructure security projects. The incumbent may work independently as a high-level architect on more complex system assignments associated with EDD security systems or may serve as a leader within project teams on infrastructure security engineering systems projects.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
Position is located at EDD’s newly built headquarters located at 1416 9th street, Sacramento, California.

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% – 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month.
