Systems Engineer

SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting with design, monitoring, configuring, and maintaining the credit union’s server, storage, and database infrastructure and applications to ensure maximum availability, performance, and security. In addition, the Systems Engineer supports development security operations (DevSecOps) and cloud infrastructure to include SaaS and PaaS services. The System Engineer may at times work under the direction of the Senior Systems Engineer Work Team Lead.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Systems Design, Monitoring, and Administration (80%)

  • Assists with design, monitors, and administers server, storage, and database infrastructure and applications, to include: server virtualization environment; Windows, Linux, and Unix operation systems; application load balancers; and SQL and Oracle database environments
  • Assists with design and administers Microsoft Windows services, to include: domain controllers, Active Directory, DNS, SharePoint, File Share,
  • System Configuration Center Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Online and O365
  • Assists with design and administers data backups
  • Plan and implement infrastructure upgrades and software patches
  • Ensure server, storage, database, infrastructure compliance with all applicable business polices and standards, and regulations
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve systems/applications faults and/or outages
  • Perform disaster recovery tests
  • Generate and maintain documentation to include procedures, topology diagrams, project plans, and business justifications
  • Follow IT Change Control processes and procedures
  • Research, evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Systems Device Installation/Replacement (20%)

Install fully assembled server and storage devices and appliances to support emerging business needs, hardware lifecycle, and/or hardware failures

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE                                                   

Associate degree and two (2) years of systems administration related experience; or three (3) years systems administration related experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

One or more of the following or related industry certifications is required:

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Server/SQL
  • VMware Certified Associate (VCA)
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • CompTIA Server+
  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Other

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES                                              

  • Must be customer service oriented to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction
  • Must have good planning, interpersonal, and problem solving skills

Systems Administrator

SUMMARY

In addition, the Systems Administrator supports cloud infrastructure to include SaaS and PaaS services. The System Administrator may at times work under the direction of the Senior Systems Engineer Work Team Lead.
