SUMMARY:Discussion - Topic: Azure OpenAI Service
DESCRIPTION:***Please Use Source Link Below to Confirm Event Details***\n  \n\nDetails\n\n\nThis week’s topic: Azure OpenAI Service \nAs described in Thoughtworks Technology Radar Vol. #29. \nWith the huge interest in generative AI\, many solutions have sprung up to access the major models. If considering or already using Azure\, then it’s worth assessing Azure OpenAI Service. It provides access to OpenAI’s GPT-4\, GPT-35-Turbo and Embeddings models through a REST API\, a Python SDK and a web-based interface. The models can be adapted to tasks such as content generation\, summarization\, semantic search and natural language to code translation. Fine-tuning is also available via few-shot learning and the customization of hyperparameters. In comparison to OpenAI’s own API\, Azure OpenAI Service benefits from Azure’s enterprise-grade security and compliance features; it’s also available in more regions\, although availability is limited for each of the larger geographic regions\, and\, as of writing\, India is not included. \nZoom link will be added about 10 min before the event starts. \nDiscussion Resources : \nArticle and video resources used to drive the discussion will be added soon after the previous week’s meetup.

SUMMARY:Performance in Azure by Deepthi Goguri | Query Store by Brandon Tuck
DESCRIPTION:***Please Use Source Link Below to Confirm Event Details***\n  \n\nDetails\n\n\nSession #1\nAbstract\nOnce you deploy your database in Azure\, you need to make sure you are always increasing the tiers and paying more for the performance of your database. Just like you tune your databases on-prem\, you need to focus on optimizing your database for performance. But how do we achieve this in Azure? \nLet’s dedicate this session to mainly focus on the ways that you can optimize and tune your Azure data solutions so you can save money being on Azure and get fast response times for your queries. \nSpeaker Bio\nDeepthi is a SQL Server Database Administrator with several years of experience in Administering SQL Servers. She is a Microsoft Data Platform MVP\, Microsoft certified trainer and Microsoft certified professional with an Associate and Expert level Certification on Data Management and Analytics. Deepthi blogs for DBANuggets.com. Deepthi is an Co-Organizer for Microsoft Data and AI South Florida user group and Data Platform Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Virtual Group. She is a Volunteer for Data platform Women in Technology user group. She is a Friend of Redgate. Along with this\, Deepthi loves arts and crafts. You can contact her on Twitter @dbanuggets. \nSession #2\nAbstract\nLike many others\, you installed SQL Server 2022\, created a new database\, and suddenly saw this new “Query Store” node. Where did that come from and what do I do with it?! Fret not\, Microsoft wouldn’t put it in there if it wasn’t helpful for us? Right? Right! Even though Query Store was introduced in SQL Server 2016\, SQL Server 2022 took it a step further for it to be enabled for new databases. Because of this\, every DBA and DB developer will want to have a cursory knowledge of what it is and what value it can provide. In this talk\, we’ll teach you how to work with Query Store and begin to leverage the treasure trove of information that it contains. We’ll start by introducing the high-level concepts of Query Store and how it works in your SQL Server 2022 databases. Once we set the foundation\, a straightforward UI demo will walk through how Query Store can be configured and optimized. Lastly\, we’ll explore the variety of reports and queries available to us to dive into the high-value data that’s being collected. Come join us to level up on your SQL Server 2022 knowledge by understanding how Query Store can help understand your environment better!\nSpeaker Bio\nBrandon Tucker is a data geek and has engaged SQL Server as an architect\, developer\, data engineer\, and administrator over the last 18 years. He loves solving complex\, real-world data problems\, applying them in business situations\, then sharing the knowledge to benefit the community. Brandon has served on the board for the Denver SQL Server User Group and presented at PASS Summit\, SQL Saturdays\, User Groups\, and Code Camps. When not wrangling data\, Brandon can be found cycling/backpacking/skiing in his home state of Colorado\, cheering on the Avalanche\, or talking world travel over drinks.

SUMMARY:3D Printing Meetup - Virtual
DESCRIPTION:***Please Use Source Link Below to Confirm Event Details***\n  \n\nDetails\n\n\nApologies all\, I have realized I no longer have my Tuesday Evenings free. I am moving this to Monday for a great discussion on failed prints\, and how I fixed the failures. Please bring your own stories too! \nSubject: Print Failures \nHello all\, for the resumption of the Meetup\, I am scheduling a virtual meeting to go over print failures. Large\, small and the plain annoying! \nI got a collection of failed prints that I will be sharing\, and going over why these prints failures\, and how I learned to avoid that failure again in the future. \nClogged nozzles\, broken filament sensors\, worn nozzles\, the list is almost endless! \nI will be scheduling this over Microsoft Teams\, as Zoom requires memberships unless we want to re-start the meeting every 30 minutes! 😛
