In April, the Flip Through UX Book Club is excited to explore Colin Ware’s Information Visualization: Perception for Design. This influential book is now in its fourth edition and is a great title to explore with a group.

Colin is a unique thinker, holding advanced degrees in both Mathematics and Psychology. He teaches at the University of New Hampshire in both the departments of Computer Science and Ocean Engineering. In 2010 he received the university’s Award for Excellence in Research.

At 560 pages, Ware’s book is comprehensive and is considered the definitive work on information visualization by many practitioners. Amazon said this of the third edition: “This book explores the art and science of why we see objects the way we do. Based on the science of perception and vision, the author presents the key principles at work for a wide range of applications – resulting in visualization of improved clarity, utility, and persuasiveness. This is the first work to use the science of perception to help serious designers and analysts optimize understanding and perception of their data visualizations.”

Join us for what we hope will be a compelling discussion of this now classic book.
